International Folklore Festival “Wreath of Vrsac” was established in 1993. year, with the intention that, as like the world famous festivals, preserve and cherish these what is most valuable in a rich fund of folk songs and dances. In its essence, this folk festival, is intended that, as to the professional critics, as to general public, presents the most valuable achievements of the international folk scene.
The International Folklore Festival “Wreath of Vrsac” since its establishment follows a defined program concept, which comprises three lines of development: competitive program, revue program and supporting facilities. Artistic stylization of folklore on the stage, as a kind of advancement of the original folkore building, which is on the festival scene performing a number of amateur organizations, verify and mark the award of prizes, and also is a challenge to all those who through that music and dance cherish the traditional values of their people. This review part and companion part of the program ,in the days of the Festival is bringing a whole line of interesting content in the form of concerts, exhibitions, lectures on ethnology, ethno fair, and learning traditional Serbian dances. On the past 13 festivals attended by nearly 200 groups from all over the world: Spain, France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Georgia, Romania, Macedonia, India, Mexico, the Republic of Serbian, Montenegrin, Canada, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Slovenia , Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Ivory Coast, Bulgaria, Afro Colombia, Croatia, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria …, and scientific conferences of the Festival brought together more than 50 eminent ethnologists, ethnomusicologists and choreographers from homeland and abroad, such as: r Milina Barišić, dr Petar Vlahović, dr Nikola Pantelić, Nice Fracile, Emilia Komišel, Stoiu Đouđev, Lajoš Vargas, Vilma Niškanović, Vesna Marijanović, Dragana Jovanović, Desanka Đorđević, Bogdanka Đurić and many others.
The “Wreath of Vrsac” have visited many renowned ensembles with nearly every continent and they brought to Vrsac a wealth of folk heritage, colorful costumes and a variety of music and instruments. They convey valuable messages about the value of each individual, as in racially terms, as in ethnically and in terms of language. “Wreath of Vrsac” has created many friendships, tear down language barriers, interstate borders, and has united different cultures and civilizations.
Festivals of this kind are highly appropriate solemnity, which allow socializing, friendship and broad exchange of knowledge. They convey valuable messages about the value of each individual in many senses, in a sense of linguistics, of ethnics, of religious, and many others.
